Community Mapping Program

Leading Edge Geomatics has begun a Community Mapping Program, designed to offer our Orthoimagery and photogrammetrically derived elevation data throughout the region, at competitive pricing. We are able to do this through the effective use of industry adopted current technologies, providing our datasets GIS ready in the projection, datum and format you choose, with exceptional resolution and accuracy.

Digital Sensor Technology

Airborne digital sensor systems record positional information from the GPS / IMU, along with the raw digital photo on a hard drive and even allow the pilot to see each individual exposure during flight.  When acquisition is completed, the sensor’s hard drive is simply removed and installed in a processing system, allowing for verification of image quality and project completion within hours...

Image Clarity

“Something that would never have been anticipated was the quality of product achieved by flying on a day with a high cloud ceiling. This seemed to be contrary to typical norms for aerial imagery capture. The results however are stunning. The lack of a bright sun meant that the imagery is virtually shadow-free and the colours are very vibrant and not washed out.   The positional accuracy of the imagery met all specifications laid out in the RFP. This was also the City’s first acquisition of digital sensor imagery and certainly seems to be the future of aerial image collection.”
- Rob Lunn, City of Fredericton GIS Coordinator

“LEGeo played a vital role during the 2008 flood response, providing provincial emergency agencies with near real-time hi-resolution imagery. Their capabilities and product enabled us to define the areas of greatest concern, assess quickly the risks to critical infrastructure and the environment and to establish a high water contour and the means to enable the officials and the public to better assess future flood risk.  LEGeo offered and excellent level of service and made a very significant contribution to the provincial disaster operation."
– Ernest MacGillivray, Director of the New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization
